Each July the LPDS Early Years Team and the Assessment Team provide a training session for Year 1 Teachers to help use the EYFSP data to plan for September. Due to the continuing Coronavirus Pandemic this year it has not been possible to run this course in its previous form. However both teams are offering this training session and a question and answer session via an online platform.
Each part of the session will be approximately 40 minutes. The first session will consider the principles of effective transition for 2021. Despite the incomplete nature of this year's profile it is still important that the Year 1 teacher understands the starting points for the children as they begin the National Curriculum. This online session will consider the important aspects to consider for September in terms of learning, the environment and effective use of assessment. It will help Y1 teachers to consider how to address the needs of the children for the beginning of the year and will consider how to make the transition from EYFSP assessment to National Curriculum Assessments in the autumn term of Year1. An opportunity will be given to look at end EYFS Profile data that has been passed to the Year 1 Teachers.
The second session will provide an time for participants to share and discuss their ideas in setting up their provision and for Anne Conroy and Mike Thompson to answer any other questions or queries which are pertinent to EYFS to Year 1 transition at present . These can be emailed in advance of the second session to Anne or Mike.
