Course Objectives

Schools which have bought into the Service Level Agreement will receive this course for free as part of their package but will be charged £25 for non-attendance. Schools which have not bought in to the SLA will be charged the full course fee.

This course will provide governors with:
• Improved knowledge of the County Council's HR policies and procedures regarding discipline, grievance, attendance and capability for staff based in schools.
• Improved understanding of the governor's role in facilitating and implementing the County Council's HR policies and procedures for school staff.

This course examines the legal requirements of the County Council's HR policies for staff employed in schools (teaching and non-teaching). It considers the duties and responsibilities of the Governing Board as an employer.

The key stages of discipline, grievance, capability and attendance will be considered and governors will understand their role in the effective management of HR policies and procedures in schools.

This course is for Governors only. Schools buying into the SLA for training can attend this course for free. Non Governors will be charged the full course fee.

Cancellation fees will apply for non-attendance or if a course place is cancelled by the delegate within 21 working days of the course date.
