After two years postponed, our residential conference is back and will provide an opportunity for school leaders to reconnect in person and for leadership teams to have the space to work together for 24 hours away from their schools. The conference will begin at 12.00 noon on Thursday 30th June 2022 with a buffet lunch which will be served at 12.30pm and end at 2.00pm on Friday 1st July 2022 following a buffet lunch again served at 12.30pm.
The conference will make you think, provide you with practical strategies and tools to solve even what may seem like the most impossible problems and help you return to school with a renewed energy to help ALL your children achieve the best they can.
It aims to help you plan the best way forward, with built in reflection, review and planning time for you and your senior staff to work together as well as network with other school leaders.
Dr Mark Bawden "Are you wrestling with a 'pig' of a situation?"
Before co-founding Mindflick®, Mark spent twenty years as a performance psychologist, which saw him work across elite sport, education, health and business. Mark has applied his “strength based approach” to performance enhancement throughout professional and Olympic sport, contributing to five Olympic Games, including being Team GB Head Psychologist at the London 2012 Games. Mark worked with the England cricket team for seven years and was subsequently head of psychology for the England and Wales Cricket Board.
He is also well-known for being the joint author of Pig Wrestling (Clean Your Thinking To Create The Change You Need): a simple fable with a powerful message. In his book, Mark tells the story about a young manager who is struggling to create the change that he needs and through it details a process that can be used to resolve any seemingly impossible problem, providing school leaders with a unique framework and powerful methodology to tackle problematic situations. By reframing the issue, we can all create change, whenever and wherever we need it most - this instantly memorable story will help you thrive in increasingly complex and messy times.

Dr Andrew Curran
"Twenty-five years of neurobiological research tells us that children learn best when they feel loved."
Dr Andrew Curran is a paediatric neurologist and neurobiology researcher working at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. His message is that we must never lose sight of the human being in front of us - in the same way that a good doctor looks beyond the symptoms and the illness to the well person that lies beneath, a good teacher will look beyond behaviours and academic outcomes to a child who wants to learn and is capable of learning.
That teacher will then work on exploring and eliminating the barriers and obstacles that are getting in the way of achieving much better outcomes all round.
If you don’t know about brains then you don’t really know about teaching and learning!

Each presentation will last for approximately 3 hours.
The remainder of the time can be used flexibly to meet the needs of the delegates.
Some leaders choose to spend this time on school related strategic planning and preparation and others enjoy simply chatting, engaging in dialogue with colleagues or having some personal, reflective or 'quiet' time.
It is hoped that the hotel will also have leisure facilities which are available to resident delegates.
(Please note that some of these facilities will incur an additional charge).
