Course Objectives
• To highlight the importance of accurate diagnostic assessment when developing an intervention programme.
• To consider different forms of intervention and how these can be used effectively.
• To identify the high value aspects of mathematics and how these support children in developing their mathematical understanding.
• To unpick the features of an effective intervention session for mathematics.
Following a turbulent period in education, some children continue to have significant gaps in their mathematical understanding which put huge barriers in the way of their progress. This half day course will support teachers in developing bespoke intervention programmes that work for their children to help them narrow the gap between their current position and year group expectations.
