Course Objectives

This course will cover:
1. To define the strategies of elaboration, dual coding, concrete examples, spacing practice, interleaving practice and retrieval practice
2. To consider strategies and how to incorporate the strategies into mathematics teaching
3. To consider how to develop the skills and strategies with pupils for their own independent use

Research is showing there are 6 key strategies which are key to maximising learning in the classroom: elaboration, dual coding, concrete examples, spacing practice, interleaving practice and retrieval practice. This course looks at ways of incorporating all 6 into mathematics teaching and learning.
