Course Objectives

"The best available evidence indicates that great teaching is the most important lever schools have to improve outcomes for their
pupils" (EEF). This course will consider the evidence and practical user-friendly guidance and strategies for how effective planning can underpin great teaching.

• How to plan effective lessons that support high quality learning for all drawing on research findings from the EEF and Rosenshine

• How the principles of effective planning for the classroom can transfer to remote learning if necessary, including the importance of manageable ongoing formative assessement

• To consider the principles for high quality targeted support and intervention for those children falling behind

• To consider how planning for effective learning takes into account barriers to learning and to have an overview of wider strategies for addressing these

This course will run over two sessions with a gap task. Participants will be expected to attend both sessions
