• To have a deeper understanding of young children's early Speech, Language and Communication development, with a particular focus on receptive language development.
• To support the identification of pupils having difficulty with receptive language skills.
• To develop a range of practical strategies and activities to support children with receptive language difficulties and how these can be incorporated into continuous provision and 1:1/small group activities

Receptive language is important in order to communicate successfully and understanding and interpreting the world around them is important for young children to feel safe and secure.. Children who have understanding difficulties may find it challenging to follow instructions and may not respond appropriately to questions and requests. Difficulties in understanding may also lead to attention and listening difficulties and/or behavioural issues. This course will help you to identify children who may have receptive language difficulties and provide you with a range of practical strategies and activities to support their needs.
